A Brief Walkthrough
It was on a misty morning in November of 2019 that an idea sprung in the
mind of our former Principal, Rev. Fr. Benny Mathew; one that would grow to
embrace and impart to students the values of healthy debate ; one that would be
executed most faithfully and with utmost diligence under the able leadership of our
Principal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Manakuzhiyil. ACMUN, over the course of its six editions,
has held debate on the most relevant issues of today, while also preparing delegates
for the multi-faceted crises that tomorrow will bring upon our young leaders. While
the dark days of the pandemic caught us unawares, we stayed committed to our
vision as we hosted our first-ever National Level Model UN Conference in 2021.
As the world faces increasingly protracted conflicts, with cultural identities
being threatened, income inequality soaring higher than ever, and a broader shift
towards a multipolar world, join us as we, with greater enthusiasm than ever, host
the next generation of thought leaders and change makers to come together to
decipher, deliberate and discuss the hostilities in our society, and attempt to
resolve the defining crises of our times.
Welcome to ACMUN 2025.

From Principal's Desk

Real knowledge is of no value until you put it into practice
- Anton Chekhov
The world around is a more interconnected one than has ever been. All of us have a distinct voice, one that we utilize to express ourselves. Beyond technical skills, communication and the ability to negotiate are what dictate the dynamics in today's milieus.

Message From Secretary General

Dear Delegates,
Throughout my six years of participating in Model United
Nations conferences worldwide, I have witnessed us
enduring a pandemic and experiencing the highest level
of digitisation and AI automation ever. The research
approach for these conferences has significantly evolved
from when I began. I used to have research binders
containing 300 pages of content, of which I would utilise
only 50. Today, those 50 pages of useful content can be
accessed through a single prompt, provided one knows
how to put together the right questions. Knowing the
right questions to ask is crucial for gaining information
that can significantly influence our actions based on the
knowledge we acquire from the responses.......

Committees

Lok Sabha
Agenda: Discussing Internal Security Challenges - Addressing Terrorism and Insurgency in Disturbed Areas
Today, while India prepares strategically for a two-front war, there were times in the not-so distant past when, the greatest threats to national security cam from within our borders. While that is no longer the case, the separatist forces that we have kept at bay are beginning to rear their ugly heads. Separatist forces fueled by anti-India forces from across the world, who seek to bleed us to death by a thousand cuts. If we are to keep our Republic, it is time for us to look within, not without.

DISEC : Disarmament and International Security Committee
Agenda: Addressing State-Sponsored Cyber Warfare and Its Threats to International Security
The greatest proponents of cyber warfare state that it is the future of war, and a better alternative to it, as it is a bloodless conflict, that it is effective. What makes it all the more ominous, is that all of us are vulnerable, from the Secretary of State of the United States, to an Afghan goat herder. As states seek to harness this power and take it further, we must ensure that we do not have another space race on our hands: technological advancement only for political one-upmanship between countries. It is time we deliberate on this most relevant topic, for now is the time.

UNSC : United Nations Security Council
Agenda: The Cabinda Conundrum
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen- for listen we must, if we are to bring a non-violent end to this conflict that has been brewing in Angola for half a century now, with roots that go further back. Sentiments run high, and the uneasy compromise made generations is one move away from collapse. Separatists, the government, oil barons, and foreign powers- all the usual suspects have their parts to play, but caught in the crossfire are citizens. Join us, if you have what it takes to handle one of the most complicated insurgency situations in recent history.

UNEP (Grade 4 and Grade 5) : United Nations Environment Programme
Agenda: Protecting Endangered Animals and their Habitats
Love for all living creatures is said to be the most noble attribute of Man. We seem to have lost this love, as our greed became the driving force of our development. While the developed nations of the world have gotten an epiphany on the state of our environment, developing nations ask valid questions: "Why should we protect the environment at the cost of development, when the developed nations had no such qualms in the past?"
Join us as we ask and seek to answer the tough questions, in a bid to protect our animals and their habitats.

UNHRC : United Nations Human Rights Council
Agenda: Deliberating upon the impact of independent counter terrorism operations on human rights.
The crux of 21st century anti-terror operations is generally as follows:
"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun."
But what happens the blood of the innocent is spilled? Is the international community stern enough to call out acts of genocide being carried out across the world in the name of counter-terrorism? Join us as we seek to understand the impact of counter-terrorism operations on human rights, and take tangible action.

HCCC : Historic Continuous Crisis Committee
Agenda: The Srebrenica Massacre (Bosnian War) - Freeze Date: July 9, 1995
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. It is the stuff of legends how a coalition of nations was able to garner support and invade a nation on the pretext of the existence of weapons of mass distraction and topple a regime. The man overthrown, despotic and dictatorial, was no saint, as he was given a taste of his own medicine, years after the Gulf War.
This time, we offer you a chance to rewrite history as we know it.

UNESCO : United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
Agenda: Combating Disinformation and Protecting Freedom of Expression
From fire to the F-16s of today, we have always sought to weaponise our innovations. We stand on the precipice of an information revolution, one where it is possible to generate content in volumes never seen before. This is the defining battlefield of our times, and it is upto us to regulate and ensure the just use of technology. Voices may be silenced online, as the algorithm is sold out to the highest bidder, no matter their intentions. As they say, it is more easier to fool one than to convince them they have been fooled. A misinformed public is more dangerous than an uninformed public. Thin lines will be threaded, compromises will have to be made as we seek to prevent an apocalypse of misinformation.

SOCHUM : Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee
Agenda: Combating Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery
One of the most heinous evils that we have time and time again tried, and failed to eradicate is slavery. While we have had success in slowing down or stopping nearly every other anti-social element over the centuries, slavery remains a stain on the collective human conscience. More people are in slavery today than ever before, with nearly a quarter of the 50 million enslaved being children. As Condoleezza Rice once put it: Defeating human trafficking is a great moral calling of our time. It is time to take action against vested interests and put down this social evil.
